Ten Things Facebook Can't Do (for your spa or salon)

images.jpeg"Should I Facebook my spa?" is a real question I was asked after Neil Ducoff and I presented Top 10 Tips for Holiday Success.

Spas and salons are asking themselves (and us) if and how they should be using Facebook, Twitter and other forms of social media.  You can't help but hear about how Social Media is changing our media landscape and will ultimately replace email. However, social media is unlikely to make any money in 2009 for most spas compared to to a good email strategy and basic website maintenance.

Adage.com spells out the reasons in a piece entitled Ten Things Social Media Can't Do. Read it and learn how not to waste your time this holiday season.

If you need any help with email marketing, events or a website tune up, you can always give us a call.

  1. Grace says:

My gut tells me 'no' to Facebook.

I can't tell you why that is, I can't provide you with numbers or stats to back up my reaction but I just don't like Facebook. Not only is it limiting in what it can offer, it looks trashy and I feel it harms more businesses than it does them any good.

Twitter is worse. What's embarrassing is the quasi-English style of language used (what = wot, you = u) and the severe case of "too much information" a lot of people have when using this programme. I find it inane and ultimately damaging for spas and salons. I have yet to come across one that uses it successfully.

    "Should you Facebook your spa?"

    NO!
