Tip #3

Sell packages or services online: Most of our top sellers sell packages or gifts for services. The top quarter of our sellers have an average a higher average sale amount, which makes perfect sense. If a (possibly male) spa gift buyer does not know what to buy they generally buy a $100 gift certificate (our average sale data supports this assertion). However, if you have a nice $129 Valentine's Day package, many buyers will jump on it-and you just raised your revenue 30% on the transaction.

  1. I went with something new last year and it was a huge success. We are repeating it again this year. Couples themed Gift Certificates and Services. Why not come in and be pampered and relaxed together? This way you don't focus on ONE treatment but a PAIR of services. Couples Massages are a nice thing to do together, I usually recommend having the massages, then picking up some Chinese food and a good movie and you are both calm and relaxed after the massage a lil food, a lil wine = a GREAT Valentine's night for TWO!! It totally makes the shy guy or shy girl feel more comfortable. We doubled our Valentine's numbers from '06 to '07. I am looking to increase this year as well. We added Valentine' Body Glitter Art this year and that's been a fun add on too!

  2. I completely agree with Tip #3. Most of our online gift certificate sales are for
    our spa packages. Our feedback has included comments such as "I did not know
    which services to purchase for my wife. It was nice to see a few packages I
    could choose from".

    Just to let others know, our "couples" services go OFF THE CHARTS!!! Our "Time for Two" package is a great seller at $360; but couple's massage reigns supreme every weekend of the year. If I had room to make an additional "duo" room, I would. Also, a tip I learned from Spa Boom is to not reduce your package prices, and that has really worked for us over the past year. We do tremendous with the online GCs, and love the Spaboom service. Lots of Love to all our fellow Spa Gurus this Valentine's Day!

  4. Ok, now I think I have my new summer special to spur traffic in on Tuesdays: "Time for Two on Tuesdays!" It was called "Twice as Nice" last year, but I think I like that "Time for Two…" a bit better. Now I have to put some services together for $222. Thanks, Sandra! — Janet
