Swamped!

We are fresh back from the Harms Software user conference at the fabulous Doral Golf Resort, which was an overwhelming success. There is nothing like a few July days in Miami to meet new people, make new friends and experience a skin-healing dose of moist sea air. Like all good things the trip came to an end bringing us back to the high desert of New Mexico. However, all of us at SpaBoom still feel a bit swamped–with new friends and clients! The Harms users are an exceedingly sharp group of spa and salon operators–evidenced by the smart questions and great ideas shared at during the show. The SpaBoom folks are overwhelmed (literally–thanks to those of you who stood in line to speak with us) with the response from new clients and existing customers all looking to maximize their web presence and sell instant gift certificates online. Larry and I were particularly gratified at the number of people who attended our presentation "Online Gift Certificates: What the Winners are Doing," which both surveyed gift certificate law in the different states, and shared some of the tips and tricks of the most successful online spa gift certificate sellers.
We are busily building instant gift pages and websites for our new clients, constantly working to improve the success of the existing SpaBoom client base and enhancing our integration with the Millennium software products. If you have any follow up questions, missed the conference or are interested in improved gifts sales don't be shy … contact us!

Hi Everyone,
I was overwhelmed at the number of classes and did not attend yours, although I needed to. Could you get and send me a copy or synopsis of that class, hints and tips? It would be sooo helpful. I am working right now on the intergration in our software. Thank you all so much.
Healthy regards, Marilyn Hughes

In regards to the link "What winners are doing" and Florida… your information is off. Florida DID require unclaimed property to be turned in, I dont know the time frame, but if it is abadoned, it belongs to the state. This went out the window on July 1, when the gift card law came into effect, not, there is no expiration allowed, and no abandonment.

Indeed, Florida law has changed. The Governor of Florida signed into law Senate Bill 1638 on June 28th, 2007. See the Governor of Florida's summary of 2007 Legislative Action.
Our presentation was based on research for June 1st, and did mention that Florida law could change. (There are a few other states about to change, including Illinois).
To summarize for our Florida readers: As of 6/28/2007, you can no longer have an expiration date on your Gift Certificates. Happily, Florida Gift Certificates are exempt from the State's abandonment requirements (subject to some limitations that generally aren't applicable to SpaBoom clients — but please check the text of the law to verify and/or talk to a qualified CPA or legal counsel in your State). I have updated our presentation to account for this new change to Florida law.
Thank you to everyone who attended our lecture are the 2007 Harms User Group Conference!
Larry.
