Mother's Day Retrospective — Betty's Bath & Day Spa

Betty's has enjoyed success due to focus on their uniqueness–they're the only soak spa in Albuquerque that also offers terrific massage and body treatments. They're also extremely consistent with their marketing message. It's no surprise, then, that their Mother's Day Instant Gift Certificate sales placed them well within SpaBoom's Top 10 performers for this holiday. Good work, Betty's!

Betty's is fortunate in many respects. We have a gifted, dedicated staff. Our spa is nestled in a quiet and beautiful valley location, giving it a remote and quiet feel in spite of its proximity to the big city. We also have a strong web presence, due to our dedication to creating what has become an increasingly important component in our success.

For all holidays since we became members of the SpaBoom family we've promoted our Instant Gift Certificates wherever appropriate. When someone calls in for a gift, we encourage them to visit the website to purchase an Instant Gift Certificate–it's convenient for them, they can take their time shopping for the perfect package, and buy it day or night, regardless of whether we're open.

This year we began to offer up Mother's Day specific packages on our website 30 days before the holiday, so by April 15th we already had our promotion underway AND we noticed sales that continued, and in fact escalated, all through the big Day.

Once we had crafted and set up our Mother's Day packages on our website, we printed fliers showcasing those specials. The fliers also point out that we offer Instant Gift Certificates, and encourage people to visit our website to 'shop' at their leisure. We displayed the fliers at our front desk, and distributed them around the city via our network of business partners. Of course nobody was safe in my company, because I'm always toting a stack of them with me to hand out at every opportunity!

So what can we deduce from this? Start promoting early, tell everyone you know (and don't yet know!) about your wonderful spa services being available in an easy-to-buy form–Instant Gift Certificates–and be absolutely consistent with your marketing message so that no matter where people hear about you, they hear the exact same thing and can know how unique and cool you really are!
