Does your email subject line yell SPAM?

February 13th, 2007 • Posted by Bill Bice • Permalink

Just because your clients have asked to receive your emails doesn't mean they actually get them — spam filters are very aggressive these days. Natural subject lines are crucial to your email campaign getting through.

Here's what to avoid:

  • DON'T USE ALL CAPS for any part of your subject line.
  • Avoid hype words like FREE, DISCOUNT and OFFER.
  • Don't use excessive punctuation!!!
  • Don't forget to proofread — spammers often use misspellings to try and fool filters.
