Avoiding online scams

We recently talked about avoiding credit card fraud. There's a bunch of online scams to be wary of, too, and Walt Mossberg sums up how to avoid online scams in his most recent article.

Mossberg has been writing technology articles for The Wall Street Journal for years. What makes him unique is the perspective he takes as a normal consumer, not a tech enthusiast that tends to like every new gadget that comes along. I love Mossberg's attitude, because it's all about technology actually working and accomplishing something for us.

Unlike the paid site for The Wall Street Journal, you can get to Mossberg's articles for free at his personal site.

Here's a story about an online scam that your readers might be interested in. This comes from a national association of tax preparers. http://northridgebuzz.blogspot.com/2006/08/e-mail-from-irs-be-skeptical-says-natp.html
