5 shopping days to go: What's going to happen?

December 20th, 2006 • Posted by Bill Bice • Permalink

Just for fun, I graphed Instant Gift Certificate sales so far this month. Pretty dramatic upswing as we've gotten deeper into December! On the 19th, SpaBoomers sold seven times as many Instant GCs as on December 1st.

Every Monday in December has established a new level, followed by a slight dip over the weekend, and then a new high the following Monday.

What do you think is going to happen on the last five days before Christmas?

This is our first Christmas with SpaBoom. If online sales track the same way in store sales have for us over the years, they will increase dramatically with the 23rd being the biggest day. I am excited to see what online instant will do for our sales.

It's snowing like crazy here! Perhaps that means good things for online sales? Happy (and profitable) Holidays to all!

    Hi,

Just wanted you to know that I did a test gift cert run for $25. I do not know if this can be deleted or not.

We are LOVING THIS!!! We have done so well and it has not even been a week! We have 2 newspapers advertising this new idea as well as we are having road signs made! HOW FUN! Thank you so much!

Going by my stats from last year, the Monday before xmas is the peak and you'll see a gradual decline on Tuesday, a spike to about 85% of Monday's levels on Wednesday, and then a gradual drop off on Thursday through Sunday.

    Thanks, Deborah!

For the test GC, just click on it on the GCs tab and then Void it. There's no fee charged on voided GCs.

Daniel, do you really think this Sunday will be slow? Last year the 24th was Sat and we did a lot that day, but this year it's a Sunday. I'm hoping that means that spas that are closed that day will leave shoppers with only the online options, giving us an advantage.

We love this… this is our first full year with SpaBoom. (We signed up 4 days before Christmas last year!) …amazing how successful this year has been for us.

We utilize an email marketing campaigns to our customer base promoting the instant gift certificates, have put a link with graphics prominently on our web page and used the new Instant POP creater to create fliers that we put around the salon and outside our door for after hours visitors… the new designs are eye catching and fun and our customers love them!!!

One of the other blogs talked about someone in the top 50 sales… it would nice to see a listing published — we don't have to see sales amounts, but it would be good to know who we compare to other sites in terms of number of instant gift certificates sold.

I don't think it will be slow, and definitely up considerably over the same DOTW last year, since it was Xmas, but I do not think you'll see the same volume as any weekday. Although it may be busier than Saturday. Only time will tell. ;-)

I concur with my fellow SpaBoomers! The Instant Gift Certificates are going off the charts! The manager loves to call me with what seems like an hour by hour report about how many more we sold! This is our second Christmas season with The Boom, and WAYYYY better than we could have imagined. Woot!

We focused mostly on e-marketing, but we do have an ad in the shopping section of our local paper that says "Instant GCs available." Anyway, I love the ROI on e-marketing with Instant GCs.

Merry Christmas to all of you… can't wait to see our results!

this is our first year with SpaBoom and i love it! no more mailing out all of those last minute gift certificates! and the dollar amounts seems to be higher. our sales in-spa were nuts on the 23rd/24th so i am hoping that sat will be crazy!!! we are open on sunday and we are usually busy. send out an email blast about last minute gift certificates online to all of your clients.
